press conference of 2007’ Around Taklimakan Rally held in Wangfujing Hotel

      Around Taklimakan Auto and Motorcycle Cross Country Rally has been held twice. In the second of the Rally in this year, it caught great attention because two racers from Shanghai have been found lost for two days, this made the junior race famous in the whole country. On the press conference today, the organizing committee said they will rent helicopter to continuously monitor the whole process of the race. Besides GPS pilot device for every racing car, satellite mobile phone will be equipped for each car to ensure personal safety.
       Xinjiang is famous for its vast land and rich resources, the second biggest desert in the world called “the sea of death” is located here. With Gobi desert, grassland, high mountains, dry river bank, steep icy mountain pass, Xinjiang is simply a natural racing land. Moreover, endless desert and sand sea will be a complete examination for racers’ endurance and technique, as well as technological data and performance for racing cars.    

According to introduction of persons concerned, the third Race will be held in May of 2007, starting from Uruqmi, ending at Korla, Bayangol Mongol Autonomous Prefecture. The total mileage including all stages and section of driving will be nearly 4000km. in 2005 and 2006, it still was a local car racing. Now it will be listed in national 4-drive Rally series in 2007 to connect mountain Kunlun, Mountain Tianshan, Mountain Altay to a more vast space. On the occasion, a real “Oriental Dakar” in appeared in China--- Around Taklimakan Rally will give a complete show.    

The sponsor of the race is the Sport Bureau of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Center for Auto & Motor Sport of State Sport Bureau. Co-sponsors include Xinjiang Around Taklimakan Auto and Motorcycle Sports Club Co., Ltd.., Federation of Auto Sport of Xinjiang, Federation of Motor Sport of Xinjiang.

Highlight 1: integrated with sport, media, auto & motor culture and tourism, Around Taklimakan  Rally boast to strengthen cultural and economic exchange between the east region and the west region, China and the rest world through sport and media promotion, as well as to promote tourism Industry both the west and the east region. Around Taklimakan  Rally is an important event in response to the State Grand West Development Strategy, and to propagandize Xinjiang, even the west region, so as to push forward west development. And obtain appraise of leaders of government at various levels.

Local people of various ethnic groups give sing and dance performance of themselves to show their respect to heroes of challenging limit.  The organizing committee precisely design and organize various business, cultural and tourism activities as well as plays with ethnic features so as to provide opportunities for racers to further understand Xinjiang. Through media promotion, More people will be able to know Xinjiang and make Around Taklimakan  Rally become a stamp of Xinjiang.
      2008 Beijing Olympic Games is near to come. We will make Around Taklimakan  Rally the top auto & motocross race in Asia, elevate its popularity so as to greatly promote development of China’s automobile and motor Industry, and automobile and motor culture.
     

Highlight 2: powerful and popular promotion platform in China—such as CCTV and provincial-level Television, radio, newspapers, magazines, internet and other more than hundred mediae will report the Rally. In particular, Shanghai Oriental Television will provide live broadcasting and relay for the Rally as well as provide public television signals; national communication broadcasting alliance will organize an interview delegation (including 20 provincial-level communication radio stations) to report, live broadcast and rebroadcast the whole process of the Rally; sport channel of Sina.com, motocross, motor bar and other web station will establish close cooperation relationship with the Rally.
