Drivers Bravely Crash out of "monster" Pond, Showing Selves' Ability in Huanta Rally

     Yesterday, the Yingsiwu Pond race segment comes the first devil race segment of Huanta Rally. The 7 big sand beams challenge the drivers' ability of driving cars and reining for the first time. The Yingsiwu Pond becomes a "monster" pond, make many cars getting into sand pond deeply and being difficult to be gotten out. 

     To drive fast on sand and slow in water. All drivers know that when driving through loose stretch of road, the driving speed shall be fast, thus to avoid getting into ground surface, when driving through water road, the driving shall use low speed, thus to avoid cars get flameout in water. The Yingsiwu Pond is a stretch of road with reed ponds and sand beams in combining, in the first one third reed land, the dry road surface is loose, and wet land is muddy and difficult to travelling. The sand beams in rearward part are all big sand slopes, with their ends can not being seen on sight, the common features of both ground surfaces are that cars are easily getting into sand, once steering being incorrect, it is easily making the four vehicle wheels scratching sand, and cars are getting deeper and deeper.  In the early morningwhen news vehicles passing through the race segment, some news vehicles get into muddy pond.  Our news vehicle again becomes the first "Leifeng vehicle" of this race segment, to help to haul out cars from muddy pond for other peoples.  As expected, after the race beginning, the muddy pond becomes the heavy disaster area, many racing cars slump into traps.   Especially for the cars departing later, they are more easily sunk into road surface, as the front cars have rolled the road even softer. All drivers show best their abilities. Some drivers give helps to each others, adopting mode of towing, which will certainly sacrifice the race record of cars giving rescue. Most drivers adopt mode of self-saving, the current high-tech equipment has already replaced the traditional sand excavating mode.  Some drivers equip themselves with Special purpose sand jack, while some other drivers adopt Inflation air-cushion mode, to place the air cushion under the chassis, and fill air to lift up cars, and then insert sand plate, and the cars can be driven out.   Such equipment is far faster than excavating sand.   Despite all this, there are many cars deeply sinking into sand and can not help themselves, reporters see a good few broken car towing belts  along the route.  At the same time, this kind of road surface also challenge performance of racing cars.  Under the condition of low speed per hour and high rotary speed, how much time the engine can keep on running, what about the cooling system is, both challenge the cross-country capacity of cars.  Many cars have no choice but to travel slowly due to too high water temperature. The Beijing driver Zhou Yong who has ever participated the Dakar Rally finally have to exit this Huanta Rally for engine failure of his car. 

 

   The situation of motorcycle drivers is worse than cars drivers; they have to tow their motorcycles all by themselves. One motorcycle driver has shoved his motorcycle for about 7 kilometers long at the 68 kilometer race segment; his physical strength has been extremely consumed.  Some motorcycle drivers have driven their motorcycles too fast, their motorcycles have been sunk into sand far deeper, in the end they have no choice but to depend on wrecking car -- the special purpose vehicle UNIMERCO. After being driven along the route, many motorcycles become rubbish iron and copper, in the end they are put into the UNIMERCO and are carried out off the race area.

   At the time two hours before the race segment stopping work for the day, a registration clerk at the vehicle off-running spot told reporter that only 48 cars and 1 motorcycle come out, most vehicles were still stranded in desert.  After the time the race segment stopping work, there were still 4 cars and more than 20 motorcycles were stranded in desert can not coming out.  The driver Lu Ningjun finally reaching in driving the vehicle off-running spot said, the land form of this race segment is complicated, there are many tall Branchy tamarisk piles, more than half road surface is desert road surface, the sand granules are very small, the road surface is extremely soft, which can damage engine easily, requiring high vehicle refitment performance and understanding of driver to vehicle. The deputy chief of the China Cars and Motorcycles Sports Administrative Center Wan Heping said: "being compared with the Paris Dakar Rally, this kind of race segments are just beginning, the difficulty is not yet too serious. The next race segment the Keliya River will be the true challenge. The level of Chinese drivers still needs to be enhanced in further step."
