The news conference of 2008 Around Taklimakan Rally & & China Auto-cross Xinjiang Stage was held solemnly in the news hall of General Administration of Sport of China on Jan. 28, 2008. Yu Zaiqing who is the deputy director of General Administration of Sport of China and the chairman of Federation of Automobile Sports of China, Yan Jianchang who is the director of Auto & Motorcycle Sports Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, and Li Guangming, the secretary of Party Leadership Group of Xinjiang Sport Bureau attended this news conference and made a speech. They set a high value on ATR and had confidence in making ATR to become a well-known off-road racing in the world step by step.
2008 ATR is approved by the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and General Administration of Sport of China, and is organized by Auto & Motorcycle Sport Management Center of General Administration of Sport and Sports Bureau of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The contractors include Xinjiang Automobile Association, Xinjiang Motorcycle Association, Xinjiang Around Taklimakan Auto & Motorcycle Sport Club Co. Ltd. and Beijing Motorcycle Sport Development Company.
The stages of ATR are chosen in the area of Taklimakan Desert which is the second largest desert in the world. At there the climate is variable and all the stages are difficult to finish, which include desert, gobi, glacier, yadan landform, saline land, snow mountain, dry riverbed and so on. Many bad conditions, such as high temperature, drought, hunger, thirst and even lose your way, fully reflect the great charm of auto & motorcycle off-road x-sports. With the development, ATR has already become the longest, the most difficult, the most challenging and the most charismatic cross-country race in China.
This ATR will start in Urumqi on May 1, 2008 and finish in stage of Hotan River. The totally distance is nearly 4000km which include the special stages of 1600km.
The ATR has being been a brand race with the support of Xinjiang Sport Bureau for many years. Xinjiang Bayi Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., as the biggest sponsor of the ATR, always shows much enthusiasm to our race and supports it greatly. Meanwhile, China Petroleum Xinjiang Sales Company, China Telecom Xinjiang Company and other companies provide solid logistics and communications.
In 2008, we will work hard to developing and building the sport culture. Beijing Beiao Xianxing International development Co., Ltd. is our partner to make a plan to promoting the culture brand of ATR and we also cooperate with many well-know companies in China for organizing various kind of cultural tourism activities. We have recruited the sightseeing & cheering group with China Youth Travel Service, hold the racing baby national selection activities with New Silk Road Models Co., Ltd. We also is going to hold the 2008 China ATR photograph competition with National Geographic Magazine Publisher, organize the auto tune technology and outdoor survival kit tool exhibition, promote the 25-episode TV series “Beyond the Limit” with Beijing Xiaoqing Movie Culture Co., Ltd., hold some environment protection activities and donate money to Hope Project with ATR’s sponsors, competing teams and news medias and Dream Boat Star Club is planning to enter the 2008 ATR.
Our ATR makes human, vehicle and nature integration and offers a communication platform of sport, culture and economy. 2008 ATR will be a new trip full of dream, conquest and challenge.
